Frequently asked questions

New to Pilates, or new to us? Here's what people usually ask before their first class.

What should I wear to class?

Comfortable, close-fitting clothes you can move freely in: leggings or fitted shorts and a top that won't ride up when you're upside down or lying back. Loose clothing can get caught in equipment and makes it harder for your instructor to see your alignment.

Classes are done barefoot or in grip socks. [PLACEHOLDER — confirm whether grip socks are required, and whether they're sold at the studio.]

What should I bring?

A water bottle and a small towel. [PLACEHOLDER — confirm what the studio provides, e.g. mats, props and equipment, and whether you're welcome to bring your own mat.]

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we recommend it. Class sizes are kept small so everyone gets proper attention, and spaces can fill up. You can see live availability and book on our timetable.

What if I'm late, or need to cancel?

Please arrive on time. The opening warm-up prepares your body for the rest of the class, so we may not be able to let you join more than [N] minutes after the start.

If you can't make it, cancel at least [N] hours before the class so someone else can take your spot. [PLACEHOLDER — late-cancellation / no-show policy, e.g. whether the class is still charged.]

I'm a complete beginner. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Everyone starts somewhere, and our instructors offer options for every exercise so you can work at the right level for you. Let your instructor know it's your first class and they'll help you settle in. [PLACEHOLDER — mention any beginner-specific classes or courses if the studio runs them.]

Do you offer private or 1:1 sessions?

[PLACEHOLDER — confirm whether private and/or duet sessions are offered.] If you'd like one-to-one attention, whether you're working around an injury or just want a programme built around you, get in touch and we'll talk you through the options.

What if I have an injury or health condition?

Pilates can be a great fit for many injuries and conditions, but please tell your instructor before class so they can suggest modifications. If you're pregnant, recovering from surgery, or managing a medical condition, check with your GP or physiotherapist before starting.

[PLACEHOLDER — mention any health questionnaire new clients complete, and any pre/postnatal or rehab-focused classes.]

How early should I arrive for my first class?

About [10–15] minutes early. That gives you time to find us, settle in, and have a quick chat with your instructor about any injuries or questions. See getting here for directions and parking.
